Every year from December through March, a limited number of Camper Sprinters in our fleet relocate to Florida and winter-base out of Daytona Beach and Miami. This is the one path that skips the 1,000+ mile NJ drive-down entirely — fly into MCO, MIA, DAB, or FLL, and pick the Camper Sprinter up at the winter-base location the same day. Same daily rates as the NJ-pickup Camper rentals ($425-$800/day on 3+ day rentals, $500-$1,000/day on 1-2 day rentals). Limited inventory. Inventory is quoted on a per-request basis — call to confirm availability for your specific dates.

Where do I pick up my Florida Sprinter van rental?
There are two pickup paths. Standard year-round pickup is 646 Lincoln Blvd, Middlesex, NJ 08846 — our owned facility, 35 miles from Midtown Manhattan and the starting point for drive-down trips to Florida. From December through March, a limited number of Camper Sprinters winter-base in Daytona Beach and Miami and are available for direct Florida pickup — ideal for snowbirds, Florida Keys road trips, and Camper adventures that do not need the whole NJ-to-FL drive.
Is it actually worth driving a Sprinter 1,275 miles from New Jersey to Miami?
For a multi-week group trip with 8+ passengers, yes — one Executive Sprinter at $275-$800/day beats the cost and coordination of 8+ flights plus a local FL rental, and you arrive with luggage, gear, and the whole party in one vehicle. For a 4-5 day trip with 2-4 people, flying in and renting locally is usually cheaper. We are honest about that. Sprinters win on Florida trips when the group is large (8+), the stay is long (10+ days), or the itinerary needs gear the van can carry (kids, pets, beach gear, surfboards, camping kit).
Can I pick up a Camper Sprinter directly in Daytona Beach or Miami?
Yes, from December through March only. Select Camper Sprinters in our fleet winter-base in Daytona Beach and Miami and are available for direct Florida pickup during those months, with the same daily rates as the NJ-pickup rentals ($425-$800/day on 3+ day rentals). Inventory is limited and weekend windows around Daytona 500, Bike Week, Spring Break, and Miami Art Basel book earliest. How old do I have to be to rent a Sprinter for a Florida trip?
Drivers must be 25 or older with a valid driver's license held for at least 2 years. A standard Class E license from Florida — or any equivalent U.S. state license — is accepted; no CDL or passenger endorsement is required for self-drive rentals under 16 passengers per the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles rules. You'll also provide a personal credit card for the security deposit and either proof of auto insurance or purchase rental insurance at checkout.
How many miles per day are included for a Florida drive-down?
Long-distance Florida rentals are quoted with an expanded mileage allowance because round-trip NJ-to-Miami is roughly 2,550 miles and NJ-to-Key West is ~2,900 miles. Tell us the route at booking — we will price the rental with unlimited-mileage or a high-cap mileage allowance appropriate to your itinerary, so you are not paying overage fees on a legitimate Florida trip. Day-to-day Florida driving once you arrive (beach runs, Disney park hopping, Keys loops) fits well inside the bundled daily miles.
Is insurance included in a Checkmate Sprinter rental for Florida?
Insurance is not automatically included. You can provide proof of personal auto insurance that extends to rentals, rely on eligible credit card rental coverage (confirm with your card issuer before travel), or purchase rental insurance at checkout. We require proof of coverage before keys are released, and a credit card security deposit is held for the duration of the rental. For long Florida drive-downs and winter Camper pickups in Daytona or Miami, most customers add the rental insurance for the hurricane-season buffer.
Is a Sprinter worth it for a Disney or Universal Orlando family week?
For a multi-family group (8-12 people) spending a full week, yes.
